Nature of Work
This is responsible technical and administrative work assisting with the coordination of the Housing Choice Voucher program in accordance with existing HUD regulations and guidelines. Activities associated with the job include maintaining and updating the Housing Choice Waiting list, preparing briefing packets for applicants and landlords, maintaining active and inactive resident files and serving as the secretary for weekly management meetings. Additional activities associated with the job include coordination of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP), serving as the debt set off (DSO) coordinator in conjunction with the collection agency and providing administrative support for the Housing Choice Voucher program. The incumbent is also required to relieve the Intake Specialist for the Housing Authority during breaks and/or absences. Job responsibilities require strong organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills, knowledge of the Housing Choice Voucher program rules and regulations, good accounting and mathematical skills and dedicated attention to detail. Job performance is evaluated by the Housing Choice Voucher Administrator through review of the accuracy and timeliness of required reports and financial transactions, organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills, knowledge of program rules and regulations and level of administrative support provided for the Housing Choice Voucher program. Job duties are also subject to annual independent and HUD (SEMAP) audits.
Necessary Requirements of Work
Graduation from an accredited two-year college with an Associates Degree in Public or Business administration, social services, or related field; considerable experience working with individuals from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds; considerable knowledge of federally assisted housing programs; good organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills; dedicated attention to detail; or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience to provide the following critical knowledge, abilities and skills. Must have or be able to obtain a valid South Carolina Driver’s license.
